In this cross conference match, former Nigerian youth international, Aliyu Ibrahim shone like a million stars with his standout performance. He opened Dynamo account for the night with a clever run when Panamanian midfielder, Coco Carrasquilla spotted him and connected with a telegraphic pass, Aliyu controlled superbly with his chest and finished comfortably to put Houston Dynamo 1-0 up. Aliyu’s goal showed why he is a crucial asset for his side and has made him a fan favorite.
San Jose 1-3 LA Galaxy.
In Northern California, MLS newcomer, Ghanaian Joseph Paintsil had a dream debut opening the goal galore for LA Galaxy against San Jose Earthquake. In the 18th minute, Paintsil started the offensive movement, located Mark Delgado who returned the ball to unmarked Paintsil inside San Jose goal area, the Ghanaian switched the ball to his left, wrapped his leg around it and unleashed a curler which beat San Jose goalkeeper
Daniel De Sousa Britto to the goal as LA Galaxy took the lead. It was a wild celebration for the Ghanaian who joined Galaxy this season from Genk in the Belgian league. Painting exhibited his technical brilliance, dictating the tempo of the game for his side. Aaron Boupendza opened the scoring for Pat Noonan team when a mistake from Chicago Fire defender’s faulty pass was intercepted by the Gabonese striker who calmly finished from close range. Boupendza was lurking around the corner when playing from back by Chicago Fire defenders turned into a Greek gift for the African. Samuel Adeniran does not disappoint anytime he gets the chance to play. His goal that doubled the lead for St Louis on match week 3 is a combination of power, pace and great scoring acumen. It takes a great striker instinct to convert from that tight space which the goalkeeper has covered and Adeniran’s goal speaks for him.
Sporting Kansas City 1-1 Philadelphia Union.
Nigerian striker, William Agada continues to come off the bench for Peter Vermes Sporting Kansas. Hector replaced Alan Pulido in the 80th minute as Sporting KC played a 1-1 draw at home.
