After 2-1 home defeat to RSL, 

Houston Dynamo search for answers

Houston Dynamo search for the first win of the season goes on as they fell 2-1 at home to Real Salt Lake.  

Dynamo conceded early in the game as Real Salt Lake first attacking play paid off in the first 60 seconds. 

Australian forward, Ariath Piol combination play with American born Nigerian USMNT midfielder, Emeka Eneli played Diego Luna on the flank, he returns the pass to Eneli as he ran into space, received the ball and delivered a pass to unmarked Diogo Gonçalves who finished superbly to give the visitor’s a one nil early lead.

The response from Houston Dynamo came in the 15th minutes, Jack McGlynn delivered a perfectly taken free kick into Real Salt Lake goal area and Eziquel Ponce headed home to level things up at 1-1. 

Houston Dynamo who are already 0-2 this season at home look to came alive after Ponce’s goal surprisingly took the lead 4 minutes later. Polish midfielder, Sebastain Kowalczyk delivered a decent cross inside Real Salt Lake 18-yard box from the left side, Moroccan midfielder, Amine Bassi latched on a loose ball from a clumsy headed clearance from Real Salt Lake defense to smash home a low-ball pass RSL goalkeeper, Rafael Cabral as Shell Energy Stadium went into delirium as Dynamo players huddled at the corner flag to celebrate.

The celebration was cut short when the center referee cancelled the goal for offside after consulting the pitch side monitor.

Dynamo came close again in the 31st minute when Nico Lodeiro teed up Ponce who headed wide at the near post. 

Subsequently, as it seems the first half was to end in a tie, Real Salt Lake launched an attack, a Dominik Marczuk cross met Diego Luna stayed on his feet as he evaded tackles to head home the ball into the back of Houston Dynamo net to give the visitors a 2-1 lead going into the break. 

 

Houston Dynamo were undone by hard luck as they squandered several goal scoring opportunities.  

Furthermore, at the restart of the hostilities in the 2nd half, back up goalkeeper, Jimmy Maurer who replaced Andrew Tradell who was subbed out injured was called into action as he pulled off couple of saves to keep his team in the game in hope of a possible comeback. 

 

The home team pressed for an equalizer late in the game but came up short with several near misses as the game went ahead to end 2-1 for the visitors.  

With this results, Houston Dynamo have only 1 point in their opening four MLS games. They are 0-3 at this season and they will travel to Lumen Field to face Seattle Sounders in week 5 on March 22nd.
