Ghanian LA Galaxy forward, Joseph Paintsil has called on CAF to punish Libya Football Association on the inhuman way they treated the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

  • Libya held the Super Eagles up at the airport for extraordinarily long hours.
  • Very disrespectful for Libya to treat Nigeria that way
  • It was a hostage situation
  • CAF should come down heavy on them

Speaking against the backdrop of the fallout from the way Libya FA treated the senior national team of Nigeria, the Super Eagles, Paintsil said during an interview with ASNSportsTV.Net at the Shell Energy stadium after Houston Dynamo defeated LA Galaxy 2-1 in the final game of 2024 MLS regular season.

“It was disrespectful for our people, our Nigerian people because you cannot take people hostage for almost 24 hours with food and water and i think CAF really need to react and punish them as really needed because this is like a hostage thing”

The Ghanian who joined LA Galaxy last season said that “Nobody deserve such treatment no matter where the person is from, I implore Nigerian to go all out to fight till they receive justice”

Paintsil whose country's national team, the Black Stars, are on the verge of missing out from the 2025 AFCON has 10 goals and 10 assists for LA Galaxy in the regular season as they finished no 2 seed in the western conference.
