LAFC ADVANCED TO THE LEAGUES CUP 2024 ROUND OF 16 WITH A 2-0 VICTORY OVER AUSTIN FC AT BMO STADIUM

Chris kators - LAFC advanced to the Leagues Cup 2024 Round of 16 with a 2-0 victory over Austin FC at BMO Stadium. Denis Bouanga and Cristian Olivera each scored, while Hugo Lloris recorded his second consecutive Leagues Cup shutout with five saves.

Bouanga opened the scoring in the 11th minute, capitalizing on a quick counterattack. After LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris saved a shot from Mikkel Desler, he launched the ball forward, finding Bouanga sprinting down the left wing. Bouanga outpaced the Austin defense and slotted a low shot past goalkeeper Brad Stuver, putting LAFC ahead 1-0. 

The lead remained unchanged until just after the hour mark when halftime substitute Cristian Olivera doubled it. Bouanga initiated the play from midfield, passing to Mateusz Bogusz, who cut inside from the left wing and delivered a precise pass into the box. Olivera controlled the ball and fired a deflected shot past Stuver, sealing the 2-0 win.

LAFC will face the San Jose Earthquakes on Tuesday, August 13, at BMO Stadium. After San Jose's 5-0 win over Liga MX’s Club Necaxa, LAFC will be eager to leave no stone unturned in this must-watch match.
