OUR MENTALITY IS DIFFERENT NOW - KAMUNGO

Bernard Kamoungo has attributed FC Dallas come back from behind win over their state rivals Houston dynamo as a collective effort of the team. 

Even though it was a rainy Saturday evening in Houston, the Tanzanian winger whose represents the USMNT internationally said that FC Dallas came to Houston early in the week to escape the inclement weather in Dallas. He also was ecstatic at the maximum points taken from the home of their rivals. 

“ You don’t know how much happy I am right now because we spend the entire week in Houston because we had to leave early because of the weather in Dallas, so we came here early since Tuesday, so is been a long week and we are just working hard to get this three points” he said.

The diminutive winger said the early goal they conceded was just an early set back. 

“Yeah, it was just an early set back, we felt like we were flat footed in the first half, we had to change something out which we had to be aggressive off the ball and try to win individual battles, being more physical and we know we will win the game” he reiterated. 

Texas Derby Pressure. 

Benard Kamungo said the derby pressure got to them at the initial stage of the game, but he said they were able to shake it off. 

“Well, maybe a little bit i will say that because you know this year is a bit different, we have new players, new coach, and their mentality is different, we have different playing styles and we have belief that we could win almost every game, so that's the mindset that we walk into every game and that will never change” 

On His International Future 

Kamungo who was born in Kasulu, Tanzania to a Congolese refugee parents but represents the United States on the international stage said he is privilege to have such opportunity. 

“ It is an honor to have the opportunity to represent one or the other, either the US or Tanzania, I do not take it for granted because i know how a lot of people would love to be in my position and am always thankful to have that opportunity to represent the United States”  

Tanzania secured their 2025 AFCON qualification by finishing 2nd behind Congo in group H and it will be their 4th AFCON appearance in their history and the first time they are appearing in a consecutive AFCON final.
