Stade Malien coach Sékou Seck was critical of his side's second half display despite a 4-1 home victory over Watanga FC in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.
The emphatic win sealed Stade Malien's progression to the next phase with a 7-2 aggregate victory over the weekend.
But in his post-match press conference, Seck said: "I only dominated the first half. In the second period, I saw a totally unfocused team that committed needless fouls."
Nicknamed "Baiko", Seck was clearly frustrated by the team's drop in standards after the break.
"We need to have a serious discussion to settle what needs to be rectified and see each player's motivation," the coach added.
"When you are leading comfortably like we were, you have no right to concede a goal."
Captain Franck B. Tiesse echoed his manager's sentiments, saying: "We absolutely must stop being distracted, especially when playing at home."
"We have to correct our errors because the level will be higher in the next round, and it could cost us dearly."
Stade Malien will face Burundian club Aigle Noir in the second qualifying round on 15 September.
Despite his annoyance at the second half decline, Seck's high standards underline why Stade Malien are targeting a deep run in the competition.
The Malian side know they must maintain concentration for a full 90 minutes to progress further.
But Seck will be satisfied with a result that confirms Stade Malien's advancement and provides learning opportunities.
