USWNT THRASHED COLOMBIA 2-0 TO SET TONE FOR SHEBELIEVES CUP TITLE DEFENSE.

The United States Women National team kicked off their SheBelieves Cup defense with a solid 2-0 victory over Colombia in the opening match of the group stage. At the Shell Energy Stadium.  Goals from Catarina Macario and Ally Sentnor secured the win for the USWNT, ensuring a strong start to the tournament. 

The USA dominated possession early on, stayed patient while pressing high and creating multiple chances. Their breakthrough came in the 33rd minute when Catarina Macario found the back of the net, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead. Colombia struggled to generate clear opportunities, with the U.S. defense holding firm. 

The U.S. continued to control the tempo, Colombia came close, Mayra Ramirez with a fine solo run was clear on goal only for her to balloon the ball into the crowd. She did everything right, but the final product was poor.

After the break, The USWNT kept the tempo up and their persistence paid off in the 60th minute when Ally Sentnor unleashed a thunderous shot from 20 yards and curled it into the far top corner to double the lead. Just her 3rd cap for the USWNT, Ally Sentnor’s goal provided breathing room, and the Americans maintained their composure to see out the match comfortably. 

The SheBelieves Cup title defense for the USWNT started on a solid performance Infront of fans who defiled the Houston cold. It was a commanding performance from the U.S., who showed their attacking quality and defensive resilience. With two more group-stage matches to play, they will aim to build on this strong start, while Colombia will look to bounce back in their next fixture.
