Brandon Vasquez returned to torment his former side, FC Cincinnati, in the return leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup round of 16 with a 68th-minute strike that knocked Cincy out.
Trailing 1-0 on aggregate entering the second leg, the Orange and Blue conceded first late in the first half after a back-and-forth opening 45 minutes. Two minutes into the second half, 2023 MLS Most Valuable Player Luciano' Lucho' Acosta leveled up for FC Cincinnati, his first in 2024 and the 40th of his FC Cincinnati career.
Rayados forward and former FCC man Brandon Vazquez scored the winner in the 68th minute to set up a quarterfinal clash against Lionel Messi's Inter Miami CF.
The Orange and Blue return to Major League Soccer competition on Sunday, March 17, at the New England Revolution.
