Ben Olsen - We Are Still Work in Progress
Written by Sam Mbonu
Houston Dynamo manager Ben Olsen has attributed his team's 2-1 home defeat to Real Salt Lake to their inability to convert their goal-scoring chances but believes that his team is still a work in progress.
“It was pretty wide open in the first half and part of that, if I have to choose a moment that changed the course of that game was about a minute in when we gave up the first goal and again we have to change the game plan and chase but i will say unlike the Miami game where we went down early and we stayed discipline that was nice to see and that’s improvement,” he said
Ben said the team is growing in some aspect but lacking in the personality to win games in MLS.
“I think we will continue to work on that but there are little stuff that I see we are growing but personality in winning games and being better in the moments that matter in MLS games we’re lacking a little bit” he emphasized.
Most importantly, Ben Olsen showered encomium on young defender, Femi Awodesu who has just played 4 games in his MLS career. He also pointed out on somethings that he needs to improve on.

“He has been thrown into the fire, I think is very unfair to compare him to Micael and ask him to fill those shoes in this moment, but he is doing ok. You don't know as a pro player when you get the opportunity, and he is getting his and he is doing some good things and some things he needs to work on but no better way to learn than in real games and that will progress his development. We are thrilled that he is here, and he will be a nice piece for this club but again he has been in the fire and is a lot to ask him” he added.
