The 2025 Major League Soccer match day 7 produced a total of 34 goals. While some teams tasted victory for the first time this season, D. C United imploded at San Jose as Bruce Arena inflicted his former team one of their heaviest defeats.
Meanwhile, Houston Dynamo got their first win of the season with a nail biting 1-0 slim win over LAFC at the Shell Energy Stadium. It was a win that was long overdue. Even though they are undergoing a rebuilding phase with the arrival of several new acquisitions, they were able to get a point away at Columbus Crew and followed it up with another draw at the Lumen Field against Seattle Sounders.
Jack McGlynn goal in the 58th minute silenced the skepticism that permeated the atmosphere as the fans who defied the inclement Houston weather erupted into euphoric celebration.
Despite all LAFC attacking onslaught, Houston Dynamo held on to get their first win of the season.
Meanwhile, MLS Cup defending champions, LA Galaxy is having one of the toughest starts in their franchise history. The champions are yet to win a game this season. A Diego Luna brace was all RSL needed to defeat LA Galaxy 2-0 at the American First Stadium.
Furthermore, with LA Galaxy suffering their 5th defeat of the season, the pressure is on Greg Vanney, keep in mind that CF Montréal and Sporting Kansas have all fired their managers for a poor start this season.
In addition, DC United imploded at the PayPal Park as Bruce Arena’s San Jose Earthquakes inflicted a 6-1 defeat to his former side. The matchup between San Jose Earthquakes and D.C United was supposed to be iconic match that will mark the 30th anniversary of Bruce Arena who was DC United inaugural coach in their first season in the league.
Nigeria born Canadian striker, Tani Oluwaseyi continued from where he left off on match day 6 with his 2nd minutes strike in Minnesota United 2-1 win at NYCFC.
The lanky striker has 3 goals in two games now for the Loons.
Columbus Crew ascended to the top of the eastern conference with a 2-1 home win over CF Montréal. Sporting Kansas started post Peter Vermes era with a 2-0 home win over rivals St Louis City FC.
Federico Bernardeschi showed great skills to score a spectacular goal as Toronto FC held Messi and Inter Miami to a 1-1 draw. A result that tilted the balance of power in the east.
As this season goes on, expect some twists and turns.
